Group Overview:

Systems Research Group of Microsoft Research Asia engages in fundamental systems research with expertise that spans theory and practice in:

  • Platforms and tools for AI
  • Distributed system infrastructures and tools
  • Intelligent cloud and edge computing
  • Distributed database and transaction systems
  • Large scale storage system
  • Systems security and privacy
  • Blockchain and smart contract
  • Custom hardware architecture for ASIC and FPGA

 

Job Description:

A research intern is expected to contribute in many ways to the research project. Typical responsibilities and duties include:

  • Handle one research project independently
  • Collaborate with researchers and other interns on one project
  • Design and implement system code
  • Optimize existed system code
  • Write paper

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by individual researchers.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • S/Master/Ph.D. students in CS, EE, Mathematics and related majors
  • Basic knowledge of operation systems, distributed systems, program language, storage system, databases, hardware, etc.
  • Good programming skills in C/C++, Familiarity with Python / C# / JavaScript / Java
  • Good communication skills and excellent teamwork
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks is a strong plus
  • Experience in FPGA/ASIC/GPU programming is a strong plus

 

Required Internship Duration:

At least 3 months
